Graduated from Hull & York Medical School in 2008 Dr Farndell is the clinical complaints lead for the practice Dr Farndell is IG and clinical lead for Data Quality within the practice

Graduated from Karachi 1996. Specialist interest in neurology, headaches. Dr Ansari is the practice Clinical Access Lead Dr Ansari is the practice Caldicott Guardian. Dr Ansari is the clinical GP lead for the practice for Preston & South Ribble Primary Care Network

Practice Management

SARA HEYWOOD

Practice Director

Sara runs the surgery in conjunction with the GP Partners on a day to day basis. Sara has worked within NHS Primary Care and managing clinical research for 30 years in a range of roles and this experience helps provide high quality patient care and safety in the practice. Sara leads in human resource, planning and estates and information technology. Sara is supported in her role by the practice management team. Sara inputs into the smooth running of the clinical team and the training of medical students and GPs. Sara assists the practice with Data Protection Regulation, Information Governance, Health and Safety and Infection Control. Sara is the non-clinical Deputy Safeguarding Lead for the practice. Sara shares responsibility for the management of Preston & South Ribble Primary Care Network

SHARON BYRNE

Practice Co-ordinator

Sharon assists with the smooth running of the practice diary and deputises with the Operations Manager in the absence of the Practice Director. Sharon co-ordinates the practice clinics and is the HR lead for the practice. Sharon is our named manager as the first contact for Complaints and Significant Events and Suggestions.

Claire leads the practice clinical and non clinical teams to ensure high standards of data quality are achieved whilst carrying out patient screening and recalls for all aspects of chronic disease management Claire represents the practice as our non-clinical digital champion

Paramedic

ANDY WILSON

Andy joined Greater Manchester Ambulance Service (GMAS) in 2001 as a trainee ambulance technician. Qualified in 2004 as an IHCD (HCPC registered) Paramedic based in South and East Manchester. In 2006 NWAS was formed from four regional ambulance services. In 2013 Andy moved to East Lancashire sector and was promoted to Assistant Operations Manager with the role evolving into a Senior Paramedic Team Leader in 2017 involving clinical and operational supervision and leadership of a team of pre-hospital clinicians with some enhanced clinical skills. Andy is a Qualified Major Incident Operational (Bronze) Commander certified by NARU (National Ambulance Resilience Unit). Member of the College of Paramedics.

Nurse Practitioners

CAROLE DILLON

Advance Nurse Practitioner

Carole works closely with our GP and Pharmacy team seeing and treating patients in a very similar way to a GP: Carole can examine you and prescribe medication. Carole also provides community house calls and works closely with our patients and carers in the Nursing and Care homes. Carole has a wealth of experience in the local health community and qualified as a Registered General Nurse in 1984. Carole gained a BSc with Honours in Nurse Practitioner in 2014 at UCLAN and is an Independent Nurse Prescriber. Carole has also completed an Advanced Certificate in Respiratory Care and Management in 2010.

SIMA PAREKH

Sima works closely with our GP team seeing and treating patients in a very similar way to a GP; Sima can examine you and prescribe medication as well. Sima has a wealth of experience in the local health community and qualified as a Registered General Nurse in 1994 since then she has gained a BSc with honours in Nurse Practitioner in 2003 at UCLAN to become MSc Nurse Practitioner in 2010 and is an Independent Nurse Prescriber.

Pharmacists

ISABELLE IDDON

Isabelle works alongside the clinical team carrying out a range of reviews including chronic disease, asthma and medication.

VICTORIA GABBOTT

Victoria assists with medication queries and medication related health care reviews . Victoria carries out diabetic reviews as part of her long term condition management.

Nurse Associate

The practice nursing team work in close liaison with the doctors. They conduct their own surgeries and can carry out NHS funded holiday vaccinations and other immunisations, ECGs, blood pressure checks, cervical smear tests, chronic disease clinics and Healthy Heart Checks. They will also offer help and advice on diet, exercise, healthy living, family planning etc. Appointments with the nursing team are made via online services

WENDY WRIGHT

Registered Nurse Associate

Wendy runs cervical screening clinics and all aspects of women's health checks including coil removals. Wendy carried out asthma and COPD reviews along with other healthcare checks. Wendy carries out childhood immunisation clinics and offers NHS travel advice and vaccinations

GP Assistants

GP Assistants conduct their own surgeries and can carry out routine blood tests, certain immunisations, ECGs and INR clinics, blood pressure checks. They will also offer help and advice on diet, exercise, healthy living, family planning etc. Appointments with the nursing team are made via online services.

MEGAN VAREY

Clinical Digital Champion

Megan assists the clinical teams with NHS Health Checks, BP, phlebotomy, ECGs and certain injections. Megan has completed Level 2 Health Coaching

Health & wellbeing support and guidance is a key part of patient self care management and plays a part in all health care related reviews

Offers support and guidance and signposting to patients for all aspects of health and wellbeing whilst carrying out clinical health reviews Lorraine is the practice Health & Wellbeing Champion

GEORGIA FALLOWS

Health & Wellbeing Community Support Worker

Assists our practice Advance Nurse Practitioner in the community and care homes co-ordinating patient care between the clinical and non-clinical teams and care homes. Georgia has completed her Level 2 in Health Coaching

Patient Services Lead

ANNASTASIA PROCTER

Patient Services Lead

Annastasia leads the Patient Services team and participates in all aspects of the running of patient services. Anna is happy to help with all manner of patient enquires. Anna also maintains practice policies, trains staff within the reception team and takes the lead as non-clinical screening champion in the practice

Secretarial Lead

LINDA LIGHTFOOT

Secretarial Lead

Linda leads the secretarial teams in ensuring all aspects of patient related referrals are processed. Linda and her team liaise with local service providers and hospitals on behalf of the clinical teams.

Administration

The administrative, medicines management and secretarial team deal with a wide range of administrative processes within the surgery including patient referrals to hospitals and NHS related services, private insurance company and solicitor requests for information and medicine management query and audit information.

Treatment Room Nurses

St Marys Health Centre, Cop Lane, Penwortham. The team can be contacted by telephone 01772 644151.The Treatment room provides dressings, blood tests, ear syringing clinic and treatment room service and stitch removal for procedures done at hospitals and external clinics. Please note this service if funded by Lancashire Foundation Trust and on occasion they will offer appointments within their range of Treatment Rooms within the area rather than at St Marys.

Podiatrist

The team can be contacted on 01772 644151. A podiatry service is provided to anyone who is registered with the service.
