Advance Nurse Practitioner

Carole works closely with our GP and Pharmacy team seeing and treating patients in a very similar way to a GP: Carole can examine you and prescribe medication. Carole also provides community house calls and works closely with our patients and carers in the Nursing and Care homes. Carole has a wealth of experience in the local health community and qualified as a Registered General Nurse in 1984. Carole gained a BSc with Honours in Nurse Practitioner in 2014 at UCLAN and is an Independent Nurse Prescriber. Carole has also completed an Advanced Certificate in Respiratory Care and Management in 2010.

Osman carried out patient annual health reviews, structured medication reviews as well as day to day medication and prescription queries. Osman reviews patient blood results and also works in the community and with our care homes for medicine reconciliation

Medicines Co-Ordinator

Sharon supports the clinical teams working alongside the Pharmacy and Health & Wellbeing Teams as well as the Management and Leadership teams. Sharon deals with prescription queries and co-ordinates medicines reconciliation both in practice and in the community.

Registered Nurse Associate Team

The nursing team work in close liaison with the doctors. They conduct their own surgeries and can carry out NHS travel vaccinations and other immunisations including child hood immunisations, cervical smear screening, respiratory reviews, and other chronic disease clinics. They will offer help and advice on diet, exercise, healthy living, family planning etc. Appointments with the nursing team are made via online services

Wendy runs cervical screening clinics and all aspects of women's health checks including coil removals. Wendy carried out asthma and COPD reviews along with other healthcare checks. Wendy carries out childhood immunisation clinics and offers NHS travel advice and vaccinations

Health & Wellbeing

Health & wellbeing support and guidance is a key part of patient self care management and plays a part in all health care related reviews. Our health & wellbeing team consists of a Health & Wellbeing Coach, Health & Wellbeing Community Support Worker apprentice and Care Co-ordinator. A range of clinical and non-clinical services are offered and include certain immunisations, blood pressure checks, performing of ECGs and routine blood tests for health checks and reviews

Assists our practice Advance Nurse Practitioner in the community and care homes co-ordinating patient care between the clinical and non-clinical teams and care homes. Georgia has completed her Level 2 in Health Coaching. Georgia is responsible for leading the clinical campaign calendars in the practice and across the network working with the health & wellbeing teams

Ruby-Lily supports the Health & Wellbeing Teams with routine blood tests for health reviews, BP checks, performing ECGs and chaperoning of clinics. Ruby-Lily has completed her Level 2 Health Coaching.

GP Assistants

GP Assistants carry out their own clinics and can administer certain immunisations. They offer support and advice on diet, exercise, healthy living, family planning etc, frailty assessments and NHS Health Checks. Appointments with the nursing team are made via online services.

Practice Director

Sara runs the surgery in conjunction with the GP Partners on a day to day basis. Sara has worked within NHS Primary Care and managing clinical research for 30 years in a range of roles and this experience helps provide high quality patient care and safety in the practice. Sara leads in human resource, planning and estates and information technology. Sara is supported in her role by the practice management team. Sara inputs into the smooth running of the clinical team and the training of medical students and GPs. Sara assists the practice with Data Protection Regulation, Information Governance, Health and Safety and Infection Control. Sara is the non-clinical Deputy Safeguarding Lead for the practice. Sara shares responsibility for the management of Preston & South Ribble Primary Care Network

Sharon assists with the smooth running of the practice diary and deputises in the absence of the Practice Director. Sharon co-ordinates the practice clinics and is the HR lead for the practice. Sharon is our named manager as first contact for Complaints and Significant Events and Suggestions.

Kieran is currently undertaking his Chartered Manager Degree Apprenticeship and works closely with the Management & Leadership team and the Patient Services & Care Co-ordinator teams in ensuring the practice runs smoothly on a day to day basis.

Linda leads the secretarial teams in ensuring all aspects of patient related referrals are processed. Linda and her team liaise with local service providers and hospitals on behalf of the clinical teams.

Annastasia leads the Patient Services team and participates in all aspects of the running of patient services. Anna is happy to help with all manner of patient enquires. Anna also maintains practice policies, trains staff within the Patient Services team and takes the lead as non-clinical screening champion in the practice

Patient Services & Administration Teams

Our teams deal with a wide range of administrative processes within the surgery including patient referrals to hospitals and NHS related services, private insurance company and solicitor requests for information, clinical correspondence and patient queries. Each team has a lead who liaises with both the management and clinical teams and work to practice protocols and processes.

Treatment Room Nurses

St Marys Health Centre, Cop Lane, Penwortham. The team can be contacted by telephone 01772 644151.The Treatment room provides dressings, blood tests, ear syringing clinic and treatment room service and stitch removal for procedures done at hospitals and external clinics. Please note this service if funded by Lancashire Foundation Trust and on occasion they will offer appointments within their range of Treatment Rooms within the area rather than at St Marys.
