How Do I Arrange An Appointment?

Appointments can be booked online via myGP or other online services or by telephoning 01772 214500 if you do not have access to a PC or smartphone.

We have a GP Clinical assessment service. The reception team will signpost your call and will arrange either a face to face or telephone clinical assessment or direct you to another appropriate service.  

What Will The Receptionist Ask Me?

The reception team are there to handle your request in the most appropriate manner under the direction of the clinicians. In order to do this they will ask for:

  • Your name
  • Verification of your address and contact number, email address, making any changes if necessary and asking if you would like to opt in or out of receiving text message reminders if you have given us a mobile telephone number
  • The nature of your call or request

They will then arrange either a face to face (this service may be temporarily suspended if advised by Public Health England or if following Government guidelines) or telephone clinical assessment for you or direct your call if appropriate to another local service or member of the healthcare or practice team

If you do not wish to inform the receptionist of the nature of your call simply inform them it is personal.

Why Does The Receptionist Ask You Details Of Your Call?

The clinicians at the practice would like to know a little about why you are calling before they return your call or see you face to face. This is in order that they can look at appropriate information from your health record OR it maybe that a face to face or telephone assessment is not actually required for example, if you need an ongoing sick note – the Reception team can help you order this without the need for a GP appointment

Whilst the majority of the time we are able to accommodate your request for a GP face to face or telephone assessment sometimes this may not be offered at a time of day convenient to you or your GP of choice may not be available.

The Practice offers a number of services run by other clinicians and also has an administration team trained in dealing with day to day enquiries.

We have found that patients are often not aware of other services which may be better suited to their needs which are available to them locally or held within our practice and that a face to face or telephone clinical assessment with a GP may not always be necessary. 

Why You Might Not Need To See A GP Face To Face?


  • To Discuss Hospital letters
  • Certain Prescription requests
  • Test Results
  • Symptoms that require general advice
  • Certain fit note requests
  • Certain referral requests if you have seen a clinician

If nationwide screening is appropriate as advised by Public Health England or following Government guidelines

Extended Access

The surgery works with a number of local practices to provide greater access to appointments and can offer appointments up to 20:00 Monday to Friday and on Saturday and Sunday mornings.

Please be advised that availability is limited and will be by pre-booked appointment and urgent on the day only.

Access may not always be provided at this surgery and you may need to travel to an alternative practice. 

If no appointment is available you may be directed to alternative services such as NHS111 either online or via telephone

These appointments will not be available to book on line - therefore please speak to a member of our reception staff for further advice.

Home Visits

If you are too ill to attend the surgery, please telephone 01772 214500 before 11am. A clinician will phone you as it may be that your problem can be dealt with by telephone advice, or it may be necessary to contact another local service or healthcare professional or indeed arrange a hospital attendance.

Carole Dillon is one of our Advanced Nurse Practitioners who work closely with our GPs and carry out community house calls

Please note that House visits are carried out for patients who are housebound because of illness or disability.

Please consider transport arrangements where appropriate for yourself or a family member prior to requesting a house call from the surgery.

Please remember that several patients can be seen in the practice in the time that it takes to make one house call. There are also better facilities for examining and treating patients at the Health Centre.

Cancel an Appointment

It is important that you inform the reception staff if you are unable to attend your appointment, this will allow that appointment to be offered to another patient. If you fail to notify the Practice that you are unable to attend, you will be sent a letter informing you that you have defaulted from your appointment. Persistent defaulters maybe removed from the list.

You can also complete our appointment cancellation notification request form. This can only be used if your appointment has been arranged for more than 24 hours in advance. (excluding weekends and public holidays). You can also text to cancel your appointment.

Text Reminder Service

We have a texting service which allows you to receive confirmation and reminders about your appointments.

To have this service you will need to register by completing a consent form.
