Seasonal Flu
During the flu season our seasonal flu vaccination appointments can be booked via the MyGP app or via your online service providers such as Patient Access
If you have no internet, PC access or smartphone then please call the surgery on 01772 214500 to inform us or your specific access and communication needs - we apologise in advance for any delays in the queue due to high patient demand on the telephones
OUR CLINICS ARE INTENDED TO KEEP OUR PATIENTS AND STAFF SAFE
There will be REDUCED car park spaces at the surgery WITH LIMITED SPACE FOR DISABLED ACCESS AND SPECIFIC ACCESS NEEDS ONLY so please arrive on foot if you are mobile and able.
You are welcome to bring a carer / guardian to support you around the building
Queues may form if there becomes an unavoidable clinical delay and these may spill outside in an uncovered area within our car park so please prepare for inclement weather however loose fitting clothing or short sleeves should be worn for easier access to your arm for vaccination to reduce the amount of time you are present in the building to reduce your risk of exposure to infection
To continue to protect other patients, visitors and our healthcare teams who may be vulnerable or have low immune systems we kindly ask that consideration is made and our request for you to wear a face covering or shield during your visit to the practice is met with understanding.
Vaccinations will take place at open vaccination stations within the waiting room
Who is eligible to have the flu vaccine?
Please visit NHS websites for NHS eligibility criteria
If you are a carer, or live with or have regular contact with someone who has a weakened immune system or a long-term condition, please read on here.
If you are housebound and do not leave your house and have not received a visit for your flu vaccination then please contact us on 01772 214500 to let us know
Patients or carers are welcome to book an appointment for someone who is genuinely housebound who we may not be aware of, e.g. they may have just come out of hospital and are temporarily unable to leave their home.
Please note, housebound does not mean that someone does not have transport or access to transport.
A housebound patient is someone who is bed or chair bound, either temporarily, or permanently.
Why have your vaccination at YOUR GP Surgery and not elsewhere?
We offer a setting where we can check your medical records and make sure you get the most suitable vaccine
We offer a safe and efficient flu clinic service with your local surgery team
We have already ordered a flu vaccination for all eligible patients registered with us for the 2022/2023 flu vaccination season.
We have to do this in advance and assure NHS England we have enough vaccines for everyone.
We have to buy the vaccines for you and we can only return limited numbers that go unused, and the rest have to be paid for by the surgery.
So please book your appointment during flu vaccination season to receive your vaccination at Longton Health Centre, we have bought your vaccine and want to protect you!
